Job summary

Ensemble Health Partners seeks a detail-oriented Patient Access Specialist to interview uninsured/under-insured patients and determine Medicaid eligibility at the Bon Secours - St. Francis Med Ctr site in Midlothian, VA.

You will guide applicants through the submission process and collaborate with revenue cycle teams to ensure accurate, timely submissions. Ideal candidates have healthcare-facing experience, knowledge of insurance workflows, and a proactive mindset toward AI-enabled process

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in healthcare interacting with patients regarding hospital financial issues.
• Understanding of Revenue Cycle including admission, billing, payments and denials.
• Knowledge of patient insurance process for obtaining authorizations and benefits verification.
• Knowledge of Health Insurance requirements and CPT/procedure terminology.
• Patient Access experience with managed care/insurance and Call Center experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Screen uninsured/under-insured patients for Medicaid eligibility opportunities and initiate the application process.
• Communicate with patients to obtain documents required for applications.
• Follow up on submitted applications to ensure timely billing or adjustment posting.
• Document all actions and communications in patient accounting systems.
• Maintain knowledge of state and federal program requirements and share with colleagues.
