Job summary

Georgia Department of Human Services is seeking an Eligibility Specialist 1 for the Right From the Start Medicaid (RSM) unit. The role determines initial and renewal Medicaid eligibility and processes applications in a fast-paced state government setting.

You'll use Georgia Gateway for registrations, work with a diverse population, and may telework depending on position, with a comprehensive benefits package and training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 1 year of related customer contact/interaction experience.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Ability to enter a high volume of data accurately and efficiently.
• Strong customer service mindset and collaboration with teams.

Responsibilities

• Determines initial and renewal eligibility for Medicaid.
• Processes applications, reviews, hearing requests and/or changes using criteria and policies.
• Registers online applications and renewals via Georgia Gateway.
• Records and evaluate applicant personal and financial data.
• Reviews and processes change requests over the phone when presented.
• Provides professional, courteous customer service to internal and external customers.
• Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned.
