Job summary

The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) is hiring Eligibility Specialist 1 in District 4 to determine initial and renewal eligibility for SNAP, Medicaid, and TANF. Positions involve processing online applications and verifications via Georgia Gateway, with emphasis on accurate data entry and customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED AND (1) one year of related experience which involved customer contact/interaction.
• Four (4) years related experience which involved customer contact/interaction as a regular part of the position OR combination of education and/or customer contact/interaction experience for a total of four (4) years.

Responsibilities

• Determines initial and renewal eligibility for public assistance programs such as SNAP/ Food Stamps, Medicaid, and TANF.
• Processes applications, reviews, hearing requests and/or changes using appropriate criteria and policies.
• Registers online applications, renewals, and processes verifications via the state Integrated Eligibility System (Georgia Gateway).
• Records and evaluates applicant personal and financial data.
• Reviews and processes change requests over the phone when presented.
