Job summary

Ensemble Health Partners is seeking a Patient Access specialist for on-site work at Carilion - Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. The role involves evaluating uninsured/under-insured patients for Medicaid eligibility and guiding the application process.

You will collect documents, follow up on submissions, and ensure accurate billing related to the program. The ideal candidate has 1–2 years in healthcare, a solid understanding of the revenue cycle, and knowledge of insurance verification.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in healthcare interacting with patients regarding hospital financial issues.
• Understanding of Revenue Cycle including admission, billing, payments and denials.
• Knowledge of patient insurance processes for obtaining authorizations and benefits verification.
• Knowledge of health insurance requirements and CPT/procedure codes.
• Patient Access experience with managed care and call center exposure is preferred.
• Inquisitive mindset with openness to AI to improve processes and patient experiences.

Responsibilities

• Interviews uninsured/under-insured patients to determine Medicaid eligibility and assists with the application process.
• Communicates with patients to obtain documents needed for the application.
• Follows up on submitted applications and ensures timely billing or adjustments.
• Documents actions in patient accounting systems and maintains up-to-date records.
• Collaborates with Medicaid caseworkers and other revenue cycle teams.
