Job summary

Smart IT Frame LLC in Burbank, CA is seeking a Media Title Metadata Specialist to manage and enrich title metadata across our entertainment content workflows. You will match program records to titles, curate descriptive metadata, and perform QC on media files and JSON data, working with operations and curation teams to meet deadlines.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in media metadata or related roles, a BA in a relevant field, and strong editorial skills, with experience in Final Cut Pro, Avid,

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in a professional setting for new media, audio/video, or entertainment products.
  • BA degree in TV/Film production, Library and Information Science, or related discipline preferred.
  • Knowledge of standard digital media formats and metadata.
  • Experience in nonlinear editing systems Final Cut Pro, Avid, Premiere.
  • Strong problem solving and ability to troubleshoot technical and operational problems.
  • Familiar with large language models and AI tools to review metadata for inconsistencies and keyword suggestions.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team, multitask, organize, and prioritize work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and proficiency on Mac and PC.
  • Familiar with administrative software and cloud storage (Microsoft/Google Suite).
  • Ability to read JSON files, feeds, searches.
  • Descriptive cataloging or tagging experience and copywriting/editorial skills.
  • Experience with project management software and tracking workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Match incoming program records to existing titles and databases.
  • Research titles on public websites and internal databases.
  • Curate and apply original descriptive metadata for titles.
  • Identify gaps or overlaps in tagging vocabularies and flag for review.
  • Tag content for discoverability according to guidelines.
  • Meet deadlines and manage priorities.
  • Provide status updates clearly and timely.
  • Use tools and shared systems to track progress of work.
  • Check artwork and metadata for technical correctness and client standards.
  • Assist with metadata remediation, auditing catalogs, and backfilling metadata.
  • Identify and describe unique titles using title management platform.
  • Perform QC on codecs ProRes, H.264 HQ, MPEG, M3U8; upload/download/transfer/transcode media.
  • QC of HD/SD media files including playback in MAM.
  • Upload, ingest, and QC content and metadata.
  • Read and edit JSON files.
  • Work with closed captions and subtitle files.

Role: Media Title Metadata Specialist
Location - Burbank, CA - onsite

The ideal candidate has a background in technical operations in the media and entertainment industry but also experience organizing and describing content accurately and effectively You should be able to work in a high-volume deadline driven environment while working Cross functionally with operations and curation teams You will become familiar with different areas of our content production workflows such as media and JSON file ingestion quality control of assets review of metadata and artwork with your primary responsibility being title matching and tagging Strong information literacy and proficiency in editorial writing will also contribute to success in this role We invite you to help us deliver top tier entertainment experiences through title metadata management and enrichment.

Responsibilities
  • Matching incoming program records to existing internal and external titles
  • Researching titles on public websites as well as on internal databases
  • Curating and applying original descriptive metadata for titles to best support stakeholder needs
  • Recognizing gaps or overlaps in the tagging vocabularies and flagging these for review
  • Tagging content for discoverability and findability in an effective and efficient manner and according to established guidelines
  • Meeting deadlines and managing priorities
  • Communicating status and progress updates in a clear and timely manner
  • Using available tools and resources to track progress of work within shared departmental systems
  • Check artwork and metadata for technical correctness and adherence to client standards.
  • Assisting with metadata remediation projects such as auditing portions of the catalog standardizing tagging based on newly normalized values correcting inaccuracies in production metadata backfilling enriched metadata from a third party source
  • Identifying and describing unique titles using a title management and matching platform
  • Perform technical QC on various media codecs ProRes H264 HQ MPEG and M3U8 to make sure files meet client specifications Upload download organize transfer and transcode media files as needed
  • QC of HD SD media files including video playback using a media asset management system
  • Accurately upload ingest and QC content and metadata
  • Working with reading and editing JSON files
  • Working with closed caption and subtitle files
Qualifications and Experience
  • 3+ years experience in a professional setting for new media audio video andor interactive consumer entertainment products preferably in a video delivery environment
  • BA degree in TVFilm production Library and Information Science or related discipline preferred
  • Knowledge of standard digital media formats and metadata
  • Experience in nonlinear editing systems Final Cut Pro Avid Premiere
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical and operational problems and challenges
  • Knowledge of large language models LLMs and tools prompting and responsible use of artificial intelligence AI to review descriptive metadata for inconsistencies suggest relevant keywords assist in translation and accelerate workflows
  • Ability to effectively collaborate in a team setting as well as multitask organize and prioritize work independently
  • Strong attention to detail
