Job summary

Platinum Communities is seeking a Medication Technician to provide high quality care and safe medication administration to residents. You will review ISPs, report condition changes, and mentor new staff while supporting a clean, welcoming environment.

You will collaborate with dietary, activities, and housekeeping teams to ensure comprehensive resident support and maintain strict confidentiality per HIPAA policies.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of CBRF medication administration training and required CBRF core trainings (Standard Precautions, Fire Safety, First Aid/Choking, and Resident Rights).
• Previous caregiving experience in a CBRF or RCAC setting preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
• Strong observation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate, dependable, and team oriented.
• Understanding of and commitment to HIPAA and confidentiality protocols.
• Flexible and available to work beyond regularly scheduled hours, weekends and holidays as needed.
• Ability to learn new technology.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications in accordance with the Six Rights of Medication Administration (right resident, right drug, right dose, right route, right time, right documentation).
• Ensure medications are given as prescribed and documented per DHS regulations.
• Monitor residents for side effects or adverse reactions and report changes to supervisor.
• Maintain accurate medication records and documentation.
• Properly store, secure, and dispose of medications in compliance with regulations.
• Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and ambulation.
• Review ISP prior to assuming care responsibilities and follow care plans.
• Promptly report changes in condition, behavior, or needs.
• Foster a supportive and respectful relationship with residents and families.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe living environment; perform light housekeeping duties.
• Assist dietary staff with meal setup and tray delivery and support activities team with events.
• Cooperate with maintenance and other team members to promote a safe community environment.
• Serve as a mentor and trainer to new caregiving staff; support onboarding.
• Communicate clearly with supervisors regarding trainee progress and development needs.
• Maintain confidentiality of all resident information per HIPAA and policies.
