Job summary

JPS Health Network is seeking a Registered Nurse PRN for the Med Surg division at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. The role involves planning, directing, and delivering quality nursing care for assigned patients on a PRN basis, with a daytime shift (7a-7p) and a focus on safe, evidence-based practice.

The RN will assess patients, administer medications, and coordinate education and discharge planning in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Nursing Diploma from an Accredited Diploma Program or Associate or higher Degree in Nursing.
• Current licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas or reciprocity within 90 days.
• Minimum of 12 months of experience as a practicing Registered Nurse.
• Current JPS-recognized BLS certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
• Completion of unit-specific competency-based orientation program within 90 days.
• Successful completion of EKG and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire, if working on a monitored unit and maintained throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Plans, assesses, directs, implements and provides quality patient care for assigned patients, including medication administration and discharge planning.
• Monitors changes in patient condition and reports symptoms and vital signs.
• Performs complete data collection from patient presentations and history.
• Collaborates with patients to identify treatment goals and discharge plans.
• Delivers nursing care including education to address identified knowledge deficits and pain management.
• Documents accurately in medical records and hospital systems.
• Maintains infection control and patient safety in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Communicates effectively with physicians, staff, and patients.
• Ensures appropriate hand-offs and adherence to EMTALA regulations where applicable.

Education
