Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System seeks a Patient Care Associate for the Med/Surg unit, FT Nights, evenings-to-weekends. You will support licensed nurses in daily patient care, perform routine procedures, and help with patient comfort and safety.

The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to safety guidelines, and ongoing learning within a large academic health system in New York. Experience in healthcare and BLS/Heartsaver certification are valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (graduate or equivalent).
• Certificate of completion of a medical assistant/patient care assistant program/equivalent with skills in venipuncture and EKG.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate effectively with other members of the Specialty Service.
• Documentation of Medical Assistant/Patient Care Associate training
• Three to nine months of healthcare experience preferred.
• Ability to set priorities, problem solve, use proper judgement in difficult situations and be flexible
• Sufficient oral and writing skills in English
• American Heart Association Heartsaver or BLS Certification

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with patient care activities and daily living tasks.
• Record vital signs and intake/output data.
• Assist with specimen collection, EKGs, and basic procedures.
• Provide patient orientation and mobility assistance.
• Deliver meals, transport supplies, and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Support isolation procedures and safety protocols.
• Document care activities and communicate patient changes to the care team.
