Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care.
• Supervises and delegates to ancillary personnel for safe nursing care activities.
• Evaluates effectiveness of patient care and identifies improvement opportunities.
• Collaborates with the healthcare team, patient, family and community regarding discharge planning.
• Provides patient/family teaching based on needs.
• Participates in unit-based quality improvement and research activities.
• Uses resources to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
• Maintains clinical competencies and completes required education and certifications.
• Mentors new graduates and less experienced staff.
• Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as delegated.
