• NIHSS Certification within 3 months of hire.
• 8 hours of continuing stroke education required annually.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care.
• Leads by delegating, supervising and participating in safe nursing care activities.
• Evaluates effectiveness of patient care and identifies opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborates with the healthcare team, patient, family and community services regarding discharge planning.
• Assesses and provides teaching based on patient and family needs.
• Participates in unit-based quality improvement and research activities.
• Maintains clinical competencies and completes required credentialing and safety education.
• Serves as role model/preceptor to new graduates and less experienced personnel.
• Assumes charge nurse responsibility for the patient care unit as delegated.
