Job summary

American Axle & Manufacturing is seeking a Mechatronics Intern in Ridgway, PA to support plant controls and automation teams. This role provides hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, motion control systems, and industrial automation technologies used in a production environment.

You will troubleshoot equipment, optimize processes, and assist with automation projects that drive efficiency, quality, and productivity.

Qualifications

Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Computer Engineering, graduating 2028.
Knowledge of industrial automation platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent systems.
Ability to work with industrial robotic systems including Fanuc, ABB, Universal Robots, KUKA, or similar platforms.
Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

Assist development, programming, and troubleshooting of PLC, HMI, servo, motion control, and robotic systems.
Collaborate with Controls Engineering to support and improve plant automation systems.
Monitor automation equipment performance and address issues affecting production operations.
Document automation updates, troubleshooting activities, and project improvements.
