Job summary

American Axle & Manufacturing is seeking a Mechatronics Intern in Ridgway, PA to support plant controls and automation teams. This role provides hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, motion control systems, and industrial automation technologies used in a production environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Computer Engineering, graduating 2028.
• Knowledge of industrial automation platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent systems.
• Ability to work with industrial robotic systems including Fanuc, ABB, Universal Robots, KUKA, or similar platforms.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Assist development, programming, and troubleshooting of PLC, HMI, servo, motion control, and robotic systems.
• Collaborate with Controls Engineering to support and improve plant automation systems.
• Monitor automation equipment performance and address issues affecting production operations.
• Document automation updates, troubleshooting activities, and project improvements.
