A premier ENR Top 100 General Contractor with an 50+ year operating legacy is delivering a multi-billion-dollar hyperscale data center program in Alexandria, Louisiana. We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead trade coordination and field execution, with a dedicated focus on Building Management Systems (BMS/BAS) installation and controls integration.
Operating on 18-month rolling build cycles with follow-on data hall expansions secured on the same campus, this position offers multi-year program stability, top-tier compensation, and substantial milestone incentives without typical subcontractor churn.
Total Compensation & Travel Package
The compensation model is structured to heavily reward execution, milestone delivery, and field leadership:
- Base Salary: $120,000 – $170,000 (commensurate with scale of mission-critical experience)
- Project Incentive: 20% monthly project milestone incentive
- Company Bonus: 20% annual company performance bonus
- Per Diem: $180/day ($65,700 annually, tax-advantaged)
- Travel Suite: $15,000 annual flight fund + car allowance + travel incentive
- Project Completion Bonus: $50,000+ at project turnover milestones
- Work Schedule & Rotation: 6x10 site schedule with two paid trips home per month. The rotation allows you to depart site Friday midday and return Monday midday, providing a dedicated 3-day weekend at home every other week.
Key Responsibilities
- Trade Coordination & Installation: Oversee the commercial and technical execution of mechanical trade contractors, controls integrators, and wet/dry piping scopes from 3D BIM/Navisworks clash detection through site install.
- BMS & Controls Focus: Direct point-to-point checkout, Sequence of Operations (SOO) verification, and network tie-ins across central utility plant automation, EPMS, and critical data hall cooling infrastructure.
- Commissioning Leadership: Interface directly with third-party Commissioning Agents (CxA) and site superintendents through Level 3 (startup), Level 4 (Functional Performance Testing), and Level 5 (Integrated System Testing / Black Building).
- Commercial Project Controls: Drive mechanical RFIs, submittals, scope packaging, buyout coordination, change-order management, schedule milestones, and billings.
- Hyperscale Liaison: Serve as the primary mechanical and controls point of contact for the hyperscale owner and design engineering teams on site.
Qualifications
- Mission-Critical Experience: 3–5+ years of mechanical project management experience delivering large-scale data centers, semiconductor fabs, cleanrooms, or high-density central utility plants.
- Controls & System Acumen: Working knowledge of DDC/BMS architectures (Automated Logic, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Johnson Controls, etc.) and their integration with CRAH/CRAC units, chiller plants, and fan wall topologies.
- VDC / Technical Coordination: Demonstrated experience managing BIM/VDC coordination, Navisworks clash detection, and critical-path scheduling for fast-track mechanical scopes.
- Commissioning Background: Direct familiarity with the 5-stage data center commissioning lifecycle and hands‑on participation in Level 4/5 functional testing.
- Mobility: Available for a 6x10 site schedule in Alexandria, LA with rotational travel.
