Job summary

Just Construction Recruitment is partnering with a top ENR General Contractor delivering hyperscale data centers. They seek an experienced MEP Project Manager to own mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and controls scopes on $200M-$500M+ builds.

The role bridges design teams, trade partners, owner reps, and commissioning agents to hit critical milestones safely, on schedule, and within budget across multi-megawatt cooling and power systems.

Qualifications

• 6+ years total construction experience with at least 3+ years leading MEP packages on data center, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or complex industrial builds.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience.
• Expert-level knowledge of medium/low-voltage distribution, standby power systems, central chilled water plants, AHU/CRAH units, direct-to-chip liquid cooling (DLC), and BMS/EPMS architectures.
• Direct experience managing Level 1 through Level 5 Commissioning and IST on mission-critical facilities.
• Proficiency in Procore, Primavera P6, Navisworks, and Bluebeam Revu.

Responsibilities

• Preconstruction & BIM oversight: lead MEP design reviews, VE, and constructability, coordinate 3D VDC/BIM to avoid field collisions.
• Execution & OFCI logistics: oversee field operations, coordinate OFCI equipment logistics, witness testing, and long-lead deliveries.
• Schedule & commissioning: enforce Primavera P6 logic for critical milestones and drive 5 levels of commissioning with CxA and Client Ops teams.
• Documentation & changes: manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and monthly pay apps using Procore.

Job description

I am currently partnering with a Top ENR General Contractor that is a dominant force in the Hyperscale & Mission Critical Data Center sector.

Delivering multi-hundred-million-dollar campuses for the world's leading technology providers and colocation giants, they are known for their high-performing teams, technical rigor, and people-first culture.

They are seeking an experienced MEP Project Manager to take technical ownership of high-density mechanical, electrical, and commissioning scopes on $200M-$500M+ builds.

POSITION OVERVIEW

As an MEP Project Manager, you will be the technical lead for all Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Controls (EPMS/BMS) systems on hyperscale data center projects. You will bridge the gap between design teams, trade partners, owner reps, and commissioning agents to ensure critical power and cooling milestones are hit safely, on schedule, and within budget.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Preconstruction & VDC / BIM Oversight

• Lead MEP design reviews, value engineering (VE), and constructability analyses during early project phases.
• Oversee 3D VDC/BIM spatial coordination between mechanical, electrical, piping, and structural teams to eliminate field collisions prior to pre-fabrication.
• Drive subcontractor buyout, scoping, and bid leveling for major MEP/FP packages ($50M-$150M+ total trade value).

2. Execution & OFCI Logistics

• Direct day-to-day field operations of mechanical and electrical trade contractors, enforcing quality standards, safety protocols (NFPA 70E), and specification compliance.
• Manage high-value Owner-Furnished Contractor-Installed (OFCI) equipment logistics, tracking factory witness testing (FWT), long-lead delivery, staging, and installation for 3MW+ generators, static UPS systems, switchgear, and central cooling equipment.
• Enforce Primavera P6 schedule logic around critical power and cooling milestones (e.g., energized switchgear, chilled water flush, air/water balance).
• Drive the project through all 5 levels of Commissioning in lockstep with the Commissioning Authority (CxA) and Client Operations Teams.
• Oversee Script/MOP (Method of Procedure) development and execution for Factory Acceptance Testing, Component Verification, System Functional Testing, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, and monthly pay applications for all assigned trade packages using Procore.
• Identify potential risk items early, establishing proactive mitigation strategies to protect project margins and schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Required:

• Experience: 6+ years of total construction experience, with at least 3+ years specifically leading MEP packages on data center, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or complex industrial builds.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience.
• Technical Depth: Expert-level knowledge of medium/low-voltage distribution, standby power systems, central chilled water plants, AHU/CRAH units, direct-to-chip liquid cooling (DLC), and BMS/EPMS architectures.
• Commissioning: Direct experience managing Level 1 through Level 5 Commissioning and IST on mission-critical facilities.
• Software: Proficiency in Procore, Primavera P6, Navisworks, and Bluebeam Revu.

Preferred:

• Professional Engineer (PE) or PMP certification.
• Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Specialist (ATS) or Accredited Tier Designer (ATD).
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification.
• Experience working directly for a Top 25 ENR General Contractor.
