Job summary

CertainTeed, a Saint-Gobain company, seeks a Mechanical Engineer for planning, installation, operation, and modernization of equipment and systems to boost productivity and safety at our NC facility. The role reports to the Engineering Manager and emphasizes planning, scheduling, and cost control.

Requirements include a BS in Mechanical Engineering, 2–10 years of design/engineering experience in manufacturing, Six Sigma knowledge, and CAD/MS Office proficiency.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering is required; PE is a plus.
• Six Sigma experience preferred; strong problem solving and data analysis.
• 2–10 years design/engineering experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
• Ability to lead project design and manage contractors/directed teams during execution.
• Proficiency in CAD and Microsoft Office; effective written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop new or modify existing equipment, machines or processes to improve quality, reliability, or capacity.
• Plan mechanical project work through coordination meetings and scheduling.
• Troubleshoot operations to improve efficiency, safety and cost control.
• Consult with engineers and maintenance staff to resolve problems and drive projects to completion.
• Update documentation of mechanical specifications, drawings and procedures.
• Apply Six Sigma principles to reduce defects and costs.
