Black & Decker (U.S.) Inc. invites applications for a Project Engineer, Mechanical – Hybrid based in Towson, MD. This role partners with cross‑functional teams to design, develop, and support outdoor power equipment platforms, delivering robust solutions while balancing quality, time, and cost.

You will lead a small core team, guide product design decisions, and coordinate with Marketing, Sourcing, Manufacturing, and Quality to meet project goals in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 7+ years of experience.
• Experience/training in Project Management preferred.
• PMP certification a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated, creative, goal-oriented and good team player.
• Computer literate; MS Word, Power Point, Excel, FEA, 2D/3D CAD (CATIA experience a plus).
• Demonstrated experience with product development: Design, DFM, Prototypes, root cause analysis, Quality – use of statistical tools, process capability, DOE’s, stackups.
• Proven ability to solve complex problems within design constraints.

Responsibilities

• Successfully manage projects to achieve quality, performance, schedule and cost objectives.
• Independently execute prioritization, planning, scheduling, and tracking of objectives.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to translate customer requirements into product specifications.
• Lead a core team of 2–3 engineers/designers to develop products and mentor them.
• Recommend sound design decisions after thorough data analysis.
• Supervise prototype and engineering builds for production readiness.
• Apply Lean Six-Sigma and design controls to maintain quality throughout development.
• Coordinate with management to keep programs on track and mitigate risks.
