Job summary

Black & Decker (U.S.) Inc. in Towson, MD, seeks an Engineer III – Electro-mechanical for a hybrid role with 3 days in office. You’ll design electro-mechanical systems, manage BOMs in PLM, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet robust product requirements.

You’ll perform DFMEA/PFMEA, tolerance analysis, and testing to optimize performance, reliability, and manufacturability, while partnering with suppliers for cost and schedule optimization.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required; 3-5 years of product development experience in high-volume electronic modules and assemblies.
  • Proficient in CATIA; able to generate detailed 2D drawings.
  • Familiarity with printed circuit board design and integration.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes for electronic and other products.
  • Experience designing plastic and metallic components with various materials.
  • Strong analytical skills with GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and failure analysis.
  • Experience with supplier development and contract manufacturers.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electro-mechanical systems and motor controls using 3D modeling and detailed drawings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product requirements andCritical to Quality attributes.
  • Release specifications, RFQ packets, and costed BOMs; work with suppliers for cost, quality and delivery.
  • Develop electro-mechanical modules for power electronics and power tool applications.
  • Conduct tolerance stack-ups, DFMEA, PFMEA, process control plans, and engineering changes.
  • Perform structural, thermal, airflow analyses, and testing to optimize performance and reliability.
  • Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement for manufacturing and product performance.
  • Support manufacturing and DFM initiatives and regulatory documentation.
