Jennings Mechanical invites applications for an Estimator to join the Preconstruction team in Orangeburg, South Carolina. This on-site, full-time role focuses on developing accurate mechanical and plumbing estimates by reviewing drawings, specs, and bid documents, and coordinating with vendors and subs to capture all costs.

The ideal candidate will have a technical background, strong analytical abilities, and experience with Excel.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred but not required.
• 2–4 years of relevant experience in construction estimating, mechanical construction, or related technical role preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general computer applications.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• A collaborative mindset, willingness to learn, and ability to manage competing deadlines.

Responsabilidades

• Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to understand project scope and requirements.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
• Request and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes.
• Identify discrepancies, scope gaps, and potential cost risks before bids are submitted.
• Prepare detailed estimates, bid summaries, and supporting documentation.
• Collaborate with preconstruction, project management, and field personnel to validate assumptions and pricing.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and project site visits as needed.
• Maintain organized records of estimates, vendor pricing, and historical project costs.
• Assist with project handoffs and compare estimated costs with actual results to strengthen future estimates.
• Contribute ideas to improve estimating processes, accuracy, and efficiency.
