Job summary

IMEG is hiring a Mechanical or Plumbing Designer to lead design efforts for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems on varied projects. Based in Broomall, PA with Las Vegas, NV project opportunities, you will work closely with engineers to deliver compliant, practical designs while mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities include client communication, budgeting, scheduling, and ensuring design quality through IMEG processes.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or certificate in BIM or Engineering preferred (Mechanical track).
• 3 years of experience in building design consulting or construction; 4+ preferred (Mechanical track).
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required (Plumbing track Option B).
• EIT Certification and ASPE Plumbing Design preferred (Plumbing track).
• 7–8 years experience preferred in building design consulting or construction (Plumbing track Option B).

Responsibilities

• Assist in or lead the design and analysis of HVAC, plumbing, and/or fire protection systems, producing detailed designs, specifications, and calculations per applicable codes and IMEG standards.
• Interact with clients to understand project needs, gather requirements, and communicate technical information clearly; build and maintain professional client relationships
• Support or lead project planning and scheduling; document design decisions and monitor project progress (Plumbing track: budget ownership and tracking)
• Analyze engineering problems and develop practical solutions with senior engineers
• Participate in design reviews and implement IMEG quality control processes
• Stay current on industry trends and contribute to IMEG’s research and innovation efforts
• Prioritize safety and mitigate system-related risks
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to deliver integrated solutions
• Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling; monitor progress relative to percent complete and fee expended (Plumbing track)
• Provide in-process design reviews and lead QC processes for plumbing and fire protection designs
• Identify potential project problems and escalate to PM
• Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phases
