Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Hardware Reliability Engineer for Starshield to identify and resolve hardware failures, improve robustness, and collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and supply chain teams to enhance satellite reliability.

Responsibilities include root-cause analysis, corrective actions, PFMEA reviews, and driving continuous improvement of manufacturing and test processes. A mechanical or aerospace background and reliability engineering experience are required or preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or other engineering discipline.
• 1+ years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing, or reliability engineering (internships and co-ops acceptable).
• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent engineering discipline is preferred.
• 3+ years of industry experience with electro-mechanical hardware is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting, root cause analysis, failure investigations, and corrective actions for Starshield production non-conforming hardware.
• Contain non-conforming product, drive root cause progress, and support quarantine and rework activities.
• Drive corrective actions to meet design specifications using data on yield and defects.
• Collaborate with Integration & Test engineers to improve manufacturing processes and test coverage.
• Maximize ROI for test and inspection processes with lean checks and objective criteria.
• Identify design and manufacturing improvements through new product development cycles and PFMEA-based control plans.
• Document failure analyses, test results, and corrective actions.
• Drive actions to prevent factory escapes of defective hardware.
• Support shop floor continuous improvement and autonomous production system progress.
