Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Hardware Reliability Engineer for the Starlink program. You will solve systemic production issues, perform end-to-end root-cause analysis, and drive design and process changes to improve quality and reliability across sub-assemblies.

You will work hands-on with hardware, understand design, manufacturing, and test processes, and collaborate to reduce failures in production and on orbit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline required
• 2+ years in design or manufacturing engineering role (student project team or internship qualifies)
• Master's degree in electrical/mechanical/aerospace/materials engineering preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on failure analysis to drive root-cause and corrective action of production, test, and on-orbit failures to improve reliability, quality, and factory throughput
• Develop, validate, and implement production processes for existing and next-gen hardware to maintain quality and high throughput
• Create data analysis programs to identify production yield and failure rates and implement statistical controls
• Conduct regular build quality reviews to ensure design intent and communicate risk reduction and manufacturability improvements
• Collaborate with production to reduce in-process inspections and maintain inspection plans
• Determine Quality Management System requirements around traceability, non-conformance, and configuration management
• Define ongoing reliability testing strategy to monitor manufacturing process health and screen for long-term defects caused by variability
• Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and offsite as needed
