SpaceX is seeking a Mechanical Hardware Test Engineer – Failure Analysis for Starlink in Redmond, WA. You will perform detailed failure analyses on high voltage vacuum amplifiers, leveraging SEM/FIB/EDS and physics-of-failure to uncover root causes.

You will collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to improve reliability, monitor yield metrics, and develop new test workflows for advanced manufacturing technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM disciplines (materials science, mechanical, electrical, physics, chemical engineering) required or equivalent.
• 1+ years of hardware development, failure analysis, or reliability engineering experience (internships/co-ops acceptable).
• Master's degree in STEM discipline preferred.

Responsabilités

• Perform detailed failure analysis of high voltage vacuum amplifiers for production and active-service units.
• Use SEM, FIB, EDS, cross-sectioning and related techniques to identify failure mechanisms in functional materials.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to improve product reliability.
• Apply physics-of-failure principles to determine root causes of failures.
• Develop and improve failure analysis techniques and workflows for new manufacturing technologies.
• Monitor yield rates and quality metrics, driving corrective actions for non-conforming products.
• Build physical and digital tools to analyze data collected in the lab and field to drive design improvements.
