A leading mechanical contractor in the Dallas–Fort Worth market is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fabrication & Manufacturing Project Manager to join its growing team.

This is a unique opportunity for a mechanical construction professional who understands how projects move from design and engineering through fabrication, manufacturing, delivery, and field installation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC, mechanical piping, plumbing, and prefabrication, with the ability to coordinate across project management, estimating, BIM/VDC, procurement, fabrication, field operations, and customers.

This person will be responsible for ensuring mechanical fabrication projects are properly planned, coordinated, manufactured, delivered, and executed in the field — with a strong focus on schedule, budget, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

The right candidate understands that successful prefabrication isn't simply about building components in a shop. It is about creating a seamless connection between engineering, fabrication, logistics, and field installation.

What You’ll Do

Project Management

• Manage mechanical fabrication and prefabrication projects from initial kickoff through fabrication, delivery, field installation, and closeout.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, procurement plans, production schedules, and delivery milestones.
• Establish project objectives and ensure all internal teams understand scope, schedule, responsibilities, and expectations.
• Monitor project performance and proactively identify risks before they impact cost or schedule.
• Track project costs, labor, materials, equipment, change orders, and overall profitability.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and provide regular reporting to leadership.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while prioritizing critical deadlines and production requirements.

Mechanical Fabrication & Manufacturing

• Coordinate the fabrication of HVAC, piping, plumbing, and mechanical assemblies in a manufacturing/prefabrication environment.
• Work closely with fabrication leadership to establish production schedules and priorities.
• Ensure fabricated components are produced accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.
• Coordinate material requirements, purchasing, inventory, production, quality control, and delivery.
• Identify opportunities to improve fabrication efficiency, standardization, repeatability, and productivity.
• Help establish and maintain manufacturing processes that support project schedules and field productivity.
• Monitor production progress and address issues that could impact project delivery.
• Ensure fabricated assemblies are properly packaged, labeled, staged, and delivered to the jobsite.

Shop-to-Field Coordination

• Serve as the primary connection between the fabrication shop and field operations.
• Coordinate fabrication schedules with field installation schedules to ensure materials arrive when and where they are needed.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, BIM/VDC teams, and fabrication personnel to resolve coordination issues.
• Ensure shop fabrication aligns with actual field installation requirements.
• Identify opportunities to increase field productivity through prefabrication and modularization.
• Review field feedback and incorporate lessons learned into future fabrication processes.
• Resolve discrepancies between drawings, fabrication models, field conditions, and production requirements.
• Ensure the project team has a clear understanding of what is being fabricated, when it will be delivered, and how it will be installed.
• Collaborate with engineering and BIM/VDC teams to ensure fabrication models and drawings are accurate and constructible.
• Review fabrication drawings, shop drawings, spool drawings, layouts, and other project documentation.
• Identify constructability issues before fabrication begins.
• Coordinate design changes and ensure revisions are properly communicated to the fabrication team.
• Work with BIM/VDC personnel to maximize the use of modeling, prefabrication, and modular construction.
• Ensure fabrication is based on the latest approved project information.
• Help identify opportunities to standardize assemblies and improve repeatability.

Procurement & Materials

• Coordinate material procurement with project and fabrication schedules.
• Develop material requirement plans based on fabrication and installation milestones.
• Work with purchasing and vendors to ensure materials are available when required.
• Monitor long-lead equipment and materials.
• Identify procurement risks that could affect fabrication or field installation.
• Coordinate material deliveries, inventory, staging, and logistics.
• Ensure materials meet project specifications and quality requirements.
• Maintain strong relationships with owners, general contractors, project teams, vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Participate in project meetings and provide updates regarding fabrication, procurement, production, and delivery.
• Communicate project status, risks, schedule impacts, and solutions clearly and proactively.
• Help resolve customer issues and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Build relationships that lead to repeat business and long-term partnerships.
• Own project financial performance from kickoff through closeout.
• Develop and maintain project budgets and cost forecasts.
• Monitor labor productivity, material costs, fabrication costs, and project margins.
• Review and manage change orders and scope changes.
• Identify cost overruns and implement corrective actions.
• Partner with estimating and operations teams to ensure accurate project handoffs.
• Participate in project forecasting and monthly financial reviews.
• Ensure projects are delivered profitably while meeting customer expectations.

Quality & Safety

• Ensure all fabrication and installation activities meet project specifications and company quality standards.
• Establish quality control processes within the fabrication workflow.
• Identify and resolve fabrication issues before components reach the jobsite.
• Partner with safety leadership and shop management to maintain a safe working environment.
• Promote a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.

• Experience with ERP, production management, or project management software.
