Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a mechanical estimator in Boise, Idaho to prepare budgets and detailed estimates for small to mid-size projects. You will analyze drawings, perform material take-offs, price units, and coordinate bid packages with subcontractors and vendors.

You’ll review RFPs and design documents, track quantities, and present final estimates to internal teams. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 3+ years of estimating experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in mechanical construction estimating
• Solid verbal and written communication skills
• Solid analytical skills and ability to interpret cost data
• Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings
• Knowledge of construction costs and principles
• Proficient with Excel and Word
• Experience with QuickPen AutoBid Mechanical and Sheet Metal Estimating software

Responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary budgets, conceptual and detailed estimates for small to mid-size projects
• Perform material take-offs and pricing; analyze drawings and use software for estimates
• Assist with bid package documentation and quantity tracking
• Solicit subcontractor bids and coordinate with vendors for quotes
• Review RFPs and drawings to determine scope and contents of the estimate
• Present findings to internal departments and respond to questions
