Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking an experienced estimator to prepare preliminary budgets, conceptual and detailed estimates for mechanical projects in Virginia. You will analyze drawings, perform material take-offs, and price units while coordinating with subcontractors and vendors.

Strong communication, cost analysis, and software skills (Excel, Auto Bid) are essential. Minimum 3 years in mechanical construction estimating; degree in CM/Engineering preferred, or equivalent technical training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CM/Engineering or equivalent training.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in mechanical construction estimating.
• Strong verbal and written communication and analytical abilities.
• Ability to interpret cost data, specs, and drawings accurately.
• Proficiency with Excel/Word and estimating software tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare budgets and conceptual/detail estimates for small to mid-size projects.
• Perform material take-offs and unit cost pricing from drawings.
• Solicit subcontractor bids and manage vendor quotes.
• Review RFPs and Basis of Design to define scope.
• Present estimates and respond to internal questions.
