Job summary

Diamond Peak Recruiting is seeking a Mechanical Estimator in Phoenix to translate drawings, specs, and site conditions into competitive, accurate estimates that win work and build trust. You’ll collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to shape proposals that are as smart as they are strategic.

You will analyze HVAC, plumbing, and piping drawings, quantify materials and labor, and contribute to design-build and conceptual estimating efforts for early-stage projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
• 2–5 years of mechanical estimating experience in commercial or industrial construction is preferred.
• Proficiency in estimating software (Trimble, QuickPen, QuoteSoft, Bluebeam) required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze mechanical drawings and specs (HVAC, plumbing, piping) to develop detailed cost estimates.
• Quantify materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs using industry-standard tools.
• Evaluate project risks, constructability, and value engineering opportunities.
• Collaborate with preconstruction, operations, and business development teams to align scope and strategy.
• Prepare bid packages, proposals, and presentations that tell a compelling story.
• Maintain historical cost data and stay ahead of market trends, pricing shifts, and innovations.
• Participate in design-build and conceptual estimating efforts for early-stage projects.

• Ability to read between the lines — spotting scope gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities
• Excellent communication and presentation skills — you make numbers make sense
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience
