Job summary

TPD® Workforce Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to own larger projects and help build lasting relationships with general contractors and design teams. You’ll shape budgets and solutions from early design through final pricing, supported by a close-knit team that values accuracy and collaboration.

You will develop conceptual budgets, identify drawing gaps, and manage quotes and proposals, while documenting scope, assumptions, and risks for informed decisions.

Qualifications

• Commercial mechanical construction knowledge and experience estimating both wet and dry scopes.
• Ability to build a complete estimate from incomplete information.
• Sound judgment about installation methods, labor, scheduling, and coordination with other trades.
• Experience with conceptual budgets, negotiated work, or design assist that helps you contribute early in a project.
• Collaborative approach: seek field input, explain decisions clearly, and take ownership of your work.

Responsibilities

• Build estimates for commercial wet and dry mechanical work, including ductwork, piping, equipment, labor, subcontractors, and project-specific requirements.
• Develop conceptual budgets and refine pricing as designs progress, documenting scope, assumptions, and risks.
• Identify gaps in drawings and work with project managers and field leaders to understand how the work will be built.
• Collaborate with general contractors and design teams on negotiated projects, design assist, and value engineering.
• Manage quotes, addenda, drawing changes, and proposals while keeping the team informed through bid reviews.

Our client is a commercial mechanical contractor delivering projects across healthcare, data centres, hospitality, and other sectors. They are looking for a Mechanical Estimator who can take ownership of larger projects and help build lasting relationships with general contractors and design teams. You’ll help shape budgets and solutions from early design through final pricing, supported by a close-knit team that values open communication, fresh ideas, and following through on commitments.
