Job Summary

Are you an experienced Mechanical Estimator with a keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of mechanical HVAC systems? We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical HVAC Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for commercial HVAC projects, drawing on a strong construction estimating background, analytical skills, and a commitment to high‑quality results.

Responsibilities

• Review plan and specs to ensure estimates comply with initial bid documents and send RFIs.
• Review and evaluate cost estimates for HVAC systems and related mechanical components.
• Communicate with trade partners and team members regarding new and current projects to ensure accurate and complete estimates.
• Prepare detailed estimates and purchase orders for all products and services.
• Ensure timely completion of estimates and meet strict deadlines.
• Understand the scope of work to bid and develop comprehensive cost analyses.
• Manage bid pricing from all vendors and establish strong working relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
• Conduct site visits and inspections as necessary to gather data and ensure accuracy in estimates.
• Utilize estimating software and tools to streamline the estimating process and improve accuracy.
• Attend pre‑bid meetings.
• Follow up on completed bids and obtain feedback to baseline and enhance bids with stronger cost analysis.
• Turnover or hand off the awarded bids to Operations for Project Management team control.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Three (3) years’ experience in construction estimating, preferably in the HVAC or mechanical contracting industry.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, architectural plans, and specifications.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Applied Science, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, particularly related to HVAC systems.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, estimating software, Outlook, Adobe, and Bluebeam.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills and strong math skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
• Ability to multi‑task and work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality estimates and maintaining strong vendor and GC relationships.
