Job summary

McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing Inc., an Oshkosh Company, seeks a mechanical engineering intern to support design, production, and test teams in Minnesota. You will assist engineers with CAD layouts, part selection, and on-floor prototype work, gaining hands-on experience across the product development cycle.

This internship emphasizes CATIA/Pro-E CAD skills, strong communication, and practical problem solving, with exposure to ECNs, BOM updates, and PLM processes in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Student working towards a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field for entire duration of internship
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Previous internship experience or work-related experience
• Experience using CATIA, Pro-E or a similar CAD system is a plus

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicle component layouts using CAD software CATIA
• Select parts for weight, cost, reliability, and ease of manufacturing
• Follow project on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot, or production build and provide technical assistance
• Generate engineering calculations of weight distribution, stress analysis, performance estimations
• Consult with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to find solutions
• Perform or assist in the testing of complete vehicles or vehicle components
• Create and manage ECN's using the PLM system
• Design, model, and test new mechanical systems that integrate with a vehicle
• Update bill of materials in the PDM system to reflect product changes
• All other duties or projects as assigned
