Job summary

STV is seeking an enthusiastic Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Buildings team in a hybrid role that requires several days in the office. The position offers hands-on experience, mentorship from senior engineers, and exposure to HVAC design, calculations, and client meetings.

Preference for a minimum 3-month commitment and full-time availability for the internship. Responsibilities include assisting with design work, equipment selection, and preparing drawings and reports while ensuring

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• ABET-accredited university or NCEES equivalent.
• Internship with hybrid office presence (at least 3 days/week).

Responsibilities

• Assist HVAC designs, calculations, and reports for building projects.
• Participate in equipment selection and specification writing processes.
• Lead projects under guidance of senior engineers.
• Mentor junior staff members and provide guidance as needed.
• Meet with clients to discuss project requirements and recommendations.
• Collaborate with structural, traffic, and geotechnical engineers.
• Plan and develop engineering activities for construction and maintenance projects.
• Evaluate and apply engineering techniques and criteria.
• Prepare or modify drawings, calculations, charts, and graphs.
• Monitor work to ensure compliance with codes and practices.
