Job summary

Mission Technologies is actively seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our E86 Structural and Shielding group in Virginia.

The Mechanical Engineer will provide hands‑on waterfront support, manufacturing engineering, and technical oversight for Reactor Plant structures, coordinating with operations, planning, and engineering teams to maintain safe, efficient construction processes; a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain a Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years with Masters; or 0 years with PhD/JD.
• ABET accredited engineering degree required.
• Experience using industry-standard design/analysis software.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, validate mechanical/electromechanical systems for production and energy use.
• Recommend options for safety, performance, efficiency or cost improvements.
• Support transfer from R&D to manufacturing as needed.
• Apply engineering research to planning, design, development, and testing.
• Analyze structural engineering specs and tolerances for durability and fit.
