Job summary

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, seeks a highly experienced Mechanical Engineer 2 in Newport News, VA, to support engineering value streams across Buildings & Grounds, Waterfront, or Utilities. You will coordinate diverse projects, apply CAD tools, and contribute to essential facility improvements at the shipyard.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program, strong CAD skills (SolidWorks/Inven tor), and the ability to obtain Confidential

Qualifications

• 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; or 0 years experience with Masters in related field.
• Undergraduate engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program is required.
• Experience using industry-current engineering design and analytical software.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Confidential level Security Clearance.
• Experience with SOPs (standard operating procedures).
• CAD software programming experience required.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, Inventor or 3D modeling equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Researches, plans, designs, verifies, validates, and develops mechanical and electromechanical products and systems used for energy production, transmission, and application.
• Recommends technology solutions and improvement approaches for systems, processes, facilities, or programs with a focus on safety, performance, efficiency and cost.”
• May transition designs and technologies from R&D into full-scale manufacturing.
