Job summary

SteveRecruiter, LLC is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer for a heavy industrial steel operations environment. You will troubleshoot, specify, and lead major equipment projects on the plant floor, collaborating with maintenance, operations, and contractors to improve reliability and safety.

The role focuses on supporting and improving mechanical systems in a demanding steelmaking setting, with travel for project work and a strong emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in steelmaking or heavy industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of industrial mechanical equipment, hydraulics, and plant systems.
• Experience with melting equipment, furnaces, or steelmaking operations is a strong plus.
• Experience managing capital projects, equipment installations, budgets, and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, improve, and optimize mechanical and hydraulic systems plant-wide.
• Lead reliability and continuous improvement initiatives to increase uptime.
• Support melting and steelmaking equipment upgrades, installations, and troubleshooting.
• Provide engineering support for large baghouse and environmental systems.
• Lead projects from concept through installation, commissioning, and completion.
• Develop scopes, specifications, bid packages, and schedules.
• Evaluate suppliers, review proposals, and oversee outside resources.
• Coordinate with maintenance, operations, engineering, and vendors to move projects forward.
• Maintain safety and regulatory compliance on all projects and activities.
