Job summary

Walrath Recruiting, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design mechanical components using SOLIDWORKS, develop prototypes, and oversee production readiness.

The role collaborates with manufacturing vendors, maintains CAD/BOMs, and troubleshoots for reliability and certifications. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and at least 3 years of hands-on design experience, with strong problem-solving and project management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on mechanical product design and development.
• Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS for part modeling, assemblies and drawings.
• Experience with prototyping, testing, and design for manufacturability.
• Knowledge of injection molding and plastics manufacturing preferred.
• Experience with sealed enclosures, thermal design or UL certification preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and products using SOLIDWORKS, including enclosures and heatsinks.
• Develop prototypes, test, and refine designs for reliability and production readiness.
• Collaborate with manufacturing vendors on tooling, inspections and production builds.
• Maintain engineering drawings, CAD files and BOMs.
• Troubleshoot defects and support UL/IP rating compliance.
• Manage product development from concept through production and timelines.
