Job summary

nVent is seeking engineers to develop designs and documentation for new and existing products. You will create 3D models, drawings, BOMs, and assist with prototype builds, while coordinating with suppliers and internal teams.

The role requires SolidWorks proficiency, GD&T knowledge, and experience with large assemblies. A two-year drafting/design degree is preferred, with hybrid work options and exposure to ENOVIA PLM and JD Edwards as beneficial.

Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree in drafting or design preferred.
• 1-2 years mechanical drafting/design experience.
• SolidWorks proficiency is required.
• Knowledge of drafting standards, GD&T, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with ENOVIA PLM or JD Edwards is a bonus.
• Experience designing large assemblies is a plus.
• Knowledge of welding stainless steel and sheet metal design is a plus.
• Tubing and manifold designs for fluids is a bonus.
• Plastic part design knowledge is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs and documentation for new and existing products with 3D models, drawings, BOM and other docs.
• Handle projects with significant scope with minimal supervision.
• Research specifications and select purchased components for designs.
• Lead small to parts of large projects independently.
• Assist with prototype builds and release of components and assemblies.
• Develop engineering/drafting/release standards.
• Perform tolerance stack analysis prior to release.
• Participate in product development including design brainstorming and VOC.
• Prepare ECO documentation and BOM development.
• Compute dimensions and tolerances to ensure specifications are met.

Education

Two-year technical degree in drafting or design (preferred)

1-2 years mechanical drafting/design experience

GD&T knowledge

Mechanical or electrical design proficiency

Proficiency with SolidWorks

ENOVIA PLM / JD Edwards familiarity (bonus)

Experience designing large assemblies

Knowledge of welding stainless steel & sheet metal design (plus)

Tubing and manifold design for fluids (bonus)
