Job summary

System One is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer for heavy‑duty steel equipment. This role focuses on improving product design, manufacturability, and production efficiency through continuous improvement and automation initiatives.

You will create/maintain 3D CAD models and 2D drawings, support prototypes and testing, and work closely with production and leadership to deliver robust, cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering (or related)
• 3+ years in mechanical design and/or manufacturing engineering
• Strong 3D CAD + 2D drawings (SolidWorks preferred)
• Experience with fabricated steel products/weldments and design-for-manufacturability
• Exposure to automation/robotics in manufacturing is a plus

Responsibilities

• Improve existing designs for durability, cost, and manufacturability
• Develop new product designs based on customer needs
• Create/maintain 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and revision control
• Support prototypes, testing, and corrective actions for quality/performance issues
• Drive manufacturing process improvements (layout, tooling/fixtures, throughput, scrap reduction)
• Help identify and implement automation (robotic welding, material handling, etc.)
