Job summary

Applied Research Associates (ARA) in Madison, AL is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 1 to design, model, and validate parts and assemblies using SOLIDWORKS, including sheet metal and weldments, for rapid prototypes and customer demonstrations.

You will generate high-quality models from sketches and renderings, apply manufacturing knowledge to optimize designs, and provide technical guidance to manufacturing and project teams to ensure successful fabrication and testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent required.
• 2+ years mechanical engineering experience required.
• Proficient with SOLIDWORKS CAD and ability to create mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design, model, and validate parts and assemblies using SOLIDWORKS including sheet metal, weldments, simulation, surfaces, and drawings.
• Generate complex models from sketches and concept designs.
• Apply manufacturing knowledge to influence rapid prototype designs.
• Evaluate designs to prevent malfunctions and meet requirements.
• Prepare cost estimates for projects or equipment components.
• Provide technical guidance and briefings to staff and leadership.
• Oversee manufacturing teams to ensure accuracy and quality of drawings.
