Job summary

Walrath Recruiting, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design mechanical components using SOLIDWORKS, develop prototypes, and oversee production readiness.

The role collaborates with manufacturing vendors, maintains CAD/BOMs, and troubleshoots for reliability and certifications. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and at least 3 years of hands-on design experience, with strong problem-solving and project management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on mechanical product design and development.
• Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS for part modeling, assemblies and drawings.
• Experience with prototyping, testing, and design for manufacturability.
• Knowledge of injection molding and plastics manufacturing preferred.
• Experience with sealed enclosures, thermal design or UL certification preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational and project management skills.

Job description

Our client is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their team. This is a full-time, permanent position.

Responsibilities Include:

• Design mechanical components and products using SOLIDWORKS, including enclosures, heatsinks, housings, and mounting hardware.
• Develop prototypes, conduct testing, and refine designs for reliability and production readiness.
• Collaborate with manufacturing vendors on tooling, inspections, design changes, and production builds.
• Maintain accurate engineering drawings, CAD files, and bills of materials (BOMs).
• Troubleshoot product defects, implement corrective actions, and support UL certification and IP rating compliance.
• Manage product development from concept through production while coordinating project timelines and updates.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on mechanical product design and development experience.
• Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS for part modeling, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
• Experience with prototyping, testing, manufacturing suppliers, and design for manufacturability.
• Knowledge of injection molding, engineering plastics, and other manufacturing processes preferred.
• Experience with sealed enclosures, thermal design for electronics, or UL certification preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and project management skills.
