Job summary

Teradyne seeks a Mechanical Engineer in Massachusetts to contribute to high‑performance optical test systems used in advanced semiconductor manufacturing. The role offers hands‑on ownership across the full product lifecycle in a collaborative, multi‑disciplinary environment.

You will design precision mechanical components with SolidWorks, manage assemblies and drawings, and participate in NPI and early production efforts while ensuring quality, reliability, and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, including part modeling, assemblies, and drawings.
• Experience creating fabrication drawings using GD&T and applying tolerance analysis principles.
• Hands‑on experience with prototyping, assembly, and testing of mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with PLM systems and change management processes (e.g., ECN/ECO).
• Strong problem‑solving, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills in cross‑functional engineering environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop precision mechanical components and assemblies using CAD tools, supporting optical and electromechanical systems.
• Own designs from concept through prototyping, validation, and release to production.
• Build, assemble, and debug prototype hardware, supporting system‑level testing and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
• Create detailed engineering documentation, including drawings with GD&T, BOMs, and change management records.
• Support new product introduction and early production builds, working with manufacturing and supply chain partners.
