Job summary

Teradyne in North Reading, MA, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design and development of Silicon Photonics hardware. You will work with Electrical, Systems, and Optical engineers on NPI and high-volume manufacturing projects.

You will develop detailed 3D CAD models, create fabrication drawings, generate ECN/ECOs, and lead design reviews while coordinating with procurement for alternate vendors. Extensive travel up to 20% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is required.
• 7+ years of experience designing and manufacturing complex electro‑mechanical systems.
• Proficient in SolidWorks 3D CAD modeling and drawing creation.

Responsibilities

• Lead internal design reviews and oversee technical aspects of assigned projects.
• Assume leadership in system & sub-system design efforts and define technical direction.
• Provide leadership and collaborate with teams on guidance, scheduling, costs, budgeting, and change management.
• Develop detailed mechanical designs using 3D CAD and create 2D fabrication drawings.
• Create ECN/ECO documents and manage releases.
• Build, debug, and test prototype designs; assist NPIs with early access units.
• Collaborate with procurement to identify alternative vendors and suppliers.
