Job summary

Verustruct is seeking a Responsible Mechanical Engineer to design, build, and test the machines at the core of its robotic construction platform. You will own cleansheet designs and work with cross-discipline engineers across the hardware-development cycle.

Based at the Torrance, CA headquarters, you will design subsystems, perform FEA, select mechanical components, and collaborate with fabrication and testing teams to advance from prototypes toward field deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, robotics, aerospace engineering, or closely related field.
• Strong understanding of mechanical-engineering fundamentals including statics and dynamics.
• Experience developing mechanical designs in professional, academic, internship, or project-based environments.
• CAD proficiency in Siemens NX or comparable platforms (SolidWorks/Creo/CATIA/Inventor).
• Hands-on experience assembling, testing, troubleshooting, or improving mechanical hardware.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop components and mechanical subsystems for robotic construction equipment (formwork, locomotion, material delivery, etc.).
• Create detailed CAD models, drawings, BOMs, tolerances, and manufacturing documentation.
• Perform mechanical calculations and structural analysis to support design decisions.
• Select motors, actuators, bearings, fasteners, sensors, and materials.
• Collaborate with fabrication resources and vendors for manufacturing.
