Job summary

Verustruct is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to help design, build, and test robotic construction machines at our Torrance headquarters. You will contribute across the hardware development cycle, from CAD to testing, owning subassemblies and scaling devices for field deployment.

You will collaborate with teams across mechanical, robotics, materials, and structural engineering, and work in a fast-paced startup setting that emphasizes iterative ownership and rapid prototyping.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, robotics, aerospace engineering, or a closely related field.
• Solid grounding in statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, machine design, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience developing mechanical designs in professional, academic, internship, or project-based settings.
• Proficient CAD skills; familiarity with Siemens NX or similar platforms like SolidWorks/Creo/CATIA/Inventor.
• Hands-on experience assembling, testing, troubleshooting, or improving mechanical hardware.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop components and subsystems for robotic construction equipment.
• Create CAD models, assemblies, drawings, BOMs, tolerances, and manufacturing docs.
• Perform mechanical calculations and structural analysis to support design decisions.
• Select motors, actuators, bearings, fasteners, sensors, and other components.
• Collaborate with fabrication resources and vendors for machined, welded, sheet-metal, and 3D-printed parts.
• Assemble, commission, and test prototype hardware at subsystem and integrated-system levels.
• Develop test fixtures, define procedures, collect data, and investigate failures.
• Document engineering work and participate in design reviews.
