Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to design/m specify mechanical systems, lead reliability initiatives, and optimize maintenance programs.

The role emphasizes RCA, predictive technologies, and cross-functional collaboration in a demanding plant environment. Candidates should have a mechanical engineering degree, 3+ years of plant maintenance experience, and strong CMMS skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years of plant-level maintenance mechanical engineering experience in petrochemical, metals, or mineral processing.
• Knowledge of machinery design, statistics and project management.
• Experience with CMMS data for reliability analysis.
• Experience with predictive technologies: NDE/NDT, oil analysis, vibration, thermography, ultrasonics, and motor circuit analysis.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and influence cross-functional personnel.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with minimal supervision.
• Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs and mobility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Designing and specifying mechanical equipment and systems.
• Leading and supporting reliability improvement initiatives.
• Monitoring equipment health and plant reliability performance.
• Applying API, ASME, ANSI, and NACE standards.
• Conducting RCA and predictive maintenance analyses.
• Reviewing CMMS data to optimize preventive maintenance.
• Providing troubleshooting guidance to operations/maintenance teams.
• Coordinating with third-party reliability service providers.
• Developing capital project justifications and budgets.
• Establishing best practices to improve profitability and unit performance.
• Writing work orders and guiding implementation for new equipment.
