Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience in heavy manufacturing; co-op acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Develop long and short-range goals for modernization and the annual budget.
• Oversee mechanical systems design, drawing development, and equipment specifications.
• Lead mechanical system projects from procurement to installation.
• Manage downturn projects, coordinating contractor resources and directing Union workforce.
• Provide engineering design and specifications for rotating equipment, piping, vessels, conveyors and other mechanical systems.
• Advise production on risks to equipment reliability and availability.
• Maintain equipment availability perspective and reliability strategy; document issues and inform operations.
• Review preventative maintenance data and adjust schedules for effectiveness.
• Lead predictive technologies such as NDE/NDT, oil analysis, vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasonics and motor analysis.
• Analyze equipment history to drive improvements in maintenance metrics.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis for operational events and equipment failures.
• Provide mechanical guidance and assistance to Shift Supervisors and maintenance staff.
• Prepare project cost projections and reports; identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Coordinate with third-party service providers for oil, vibration, thermography.
• Write work orders and input to execution of work.
