Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking a Mechanical Engineer at our Toledo, OH location to provide maintenance engineering support and maximize plant equipment availability. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required.
• 3+ years of plant-level maintenance mechanical engineering experience in relevant industries.
• Knowledge of machinery design, statistics and project management is required.
• Excellent computer skills and CMMS proficiency for reliability analysis.
• Experience with predictive technologies (NDE/NDT, oil analysis, vibration, thermography, ultrasonics, motor circuit analysis).
• Strong written and oral communication; ability to influence cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities.
• Willingness to lift up to 25 lbs and mobility to work in plant environments.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Designing and specifying mechanical equipment and systems such as piping, vessels, rotating equipment, and conveyors.
• Leading and supporting reliability improvement initiatives.
• Monitoring equipment health and plant reliability performance.
• Applying industry standards and codes (API, ASME, ANSI, and NACE).
• Conducting equipment failure investigations and Root Cause Analyses (RCA).
• Utilizing predictive maintenance technologies (vibration, oil analysis, thermography, ultrasonics, NDE/NDT, motor circuit analysis).
• Reviewing maintenance data and CMMS information to optimize preventive maintenance programs.
• Supporting operations and maintenance teams with troubleshooting and technical guidance.
• Managing equipment reliability strategies and capital projects with budgets and cost savings.
• Coordinating with third-party reliability providers and establishing best practices.
