Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the design and development of mechanical systems for naval propulsion and related equipment. This position supports the Nuclear Propulsion – Overhaul Engineering team and requires developing engineered solutions for overhaul of in-service aircraft carriers and submarines.

Within Department E81, the role focuses on planning, designing, and integrating digital and technology-driven solutions to achieve superior results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program.

Responsibilities

• Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
• Develops technical direction, processes, tooling, and material needs to provide a completely engineered solution for the nuclear overhaul of in-service ships, integrating innovative digital and technology-driven solutions.
