Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII), is seeking engineers to apply electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to propulsion systems for Navy aircraft carriers. You will participate in assembly, testing, and documentation of results as part of the Propulsion and Reactor Engineering Planning Yard Machinery Team.

The role supports design, testing, and vendor coordination for major propulsion components, working with 2–4 junior engineers and leading

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
• Optional Master's degree with relevant experience.
• PhD with relevant experience is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Applies electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results.
• Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems.
• Contributes to propulsion plant component design, analysis and vendor coordination.
