Job summary

Broad-Ocean Motor in Novi, Michigan, seeks a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to design motor controller packaging and to set up dynos for testing. You will develop enclosures, thermal management, and interface layouts, while producing CAD models, BOMs, and validation docs.

The role requires a BSRE/BSME with 3+ years in mechanical packaging for power electronics, strong hands-on lab skills, and collaboration across electrical, controls, and test teams.

Qualifications

• BSME or higher with relevant mechanical design experience.
• 3+ years in mechanical packaging for power electronics or motor controllers.
• Knowledge of thermal management and IP ratings (IP67/IP6K9K).
• Strong hands-on capability with assembly and dyno testing.
• Experience with CAD drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing docs.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical packaging for motor controllers including enclosures and thermal design.
• Create 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
• Support prototype assembly, testing, and root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with electrical, controls, software, and test engineers.
• Coordinate machining, fabrication, prototyping, and sourcing with suppliers.
• Prepare test fixtures and dyno test setup and maintenance.
