Job summary

The Chemours Company is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Washington Works team in Parkersburg, WV. The role supports manufacturing operations with mechanical expertise and leads MI-QA efforts 20% of the time.

Responsibilities include project work for compliance and safety, RCA leadership, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate has a mechanical engineering degree and 5+ years of experience, with strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • 5 years of Engineering experience (can include Co-op experience).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic mechanical engineering principles.
  • Diagnose and solve technical problems – data-based decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Willing and able to wear PPE (steel toes, hard hat, Nomex, eye protection, respirators).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a "hands on" approach.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical engineering support to the manufacturing area operations.
  • Provide mechanical engineering expertise for project work to ensure compliance with specifications, engineering standards, and quality assurance.
  • Provide mechanical expertise for troubleshooting and modifying operating equipment and facilities.
  • Initiate Change of Designs (CODs) to improve safety, quality, environmental, and/or cost of the unit.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for equipment failures.
  • Provide leadership in Mechanical Integrity and Quality Assurance (MIQA) to maintain standards and improvements.
  • Lead PSM criticality assessment to manage MIQA, including spare parts, SAP data, inspection plans, and maintenance procedures.
