Job summary

Black & Veatch invites a Mechanical Engineer Intern to contribute to HVAC/Plumbing projects within Advanced Power Generation. The role supports design development, calculations, and coordination across disciplines, offering hands-on experience in a professional office setting.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in ABET-accredited Mechanical or Chemical Engineering programs, with an interest in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• No experience required; current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Mechanical or Chemical Engineering program.
• Onboarding may include background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, as required by policy.

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate, and design specifications and contract drawings.
• Design HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, standby power, flood control systems, and related specialties.
• Support engineering analyses, report production, and designs.
• Prepare basic calculations
• Assist in basic equipment selection
• Coordinate with other disciplines
• Schedule project deliverables
• Collect, organize, and evaluate data
• Analyze systems using computer modeling
